PRAYER REQUESTS

02/07/2010 05:28 PM

Next week, Florica Gondor, a member of the church in Oradea and her husband, Gelu, will go to Cluj to the hospital.  Gelu will undergo an eye surgery - replacing the crystalline lens.  Please keep him in your prayers.

Willis Waller's treatment for his cancer is making him extremely tired and very susceptible to infection.  If you visit keep the visit short, use hand sanitizer, and do not visit if you have a runny nose or a cough or any sign of infection.  Calls are welcome.  The family appreciates your cooperation in this matter.

Harold O'Neal is not doing well.  Pray for him and his family.

Helen Glasscock  is at home.  The doctor said that the treatment is even more effective than he expected it to be.

Tony Luster is still battling many health problems.  The results from the echocardiogram were partly inconclusive and more tests will have to be done.

Cecil Langston had outpatient surgery on his hand Friday morning.  All went well.

Sue Langston is improving greatly.

John Fletcher, brother of Glenda Jennings had knee replacement surgery Monday.  The surgery went well and he will begin physical therapy soon.

Wayne Goodman got a good report from the doctor in Arkansas.

Cathy Parker got a good report from her lumpectomy.  The doctor said that all of the abnormal cells were contained in the mass and her margins looked good.  The report will be sent to an oncologist for further review but the doctor said he would be surprised if any further treatment would be needed.

James Phillips, Betty Patterson's 26 year old great nephew has been diagnosed with a brain tumor that is affecting many of his body systems.  He will go to Boston to have it removed.

Elizabeth Park, 3 month old great granddaughter of Bennie Gay Wallace will begin to undergo a series of surgeries to remove defective skin from her torso and replace it with healthy skin from her legs and arms.  It is not known how many surgeries it will take to complete this procedure.

Ron Russell is recovering from knee surgery at home.

Tim Jennings is having some sickness in connection with his dialysis.

Kristy Gray is making improvements.  Please keep her and Brian in your prayers as they adjust to the changes in their lives.

Warren Ward, brother of Elmer Ward has been diagnosed with cancer in his colon.  He will go to Birmingham soon for further tests.

Fred Hamlin, cousin of Bill Williamson has been diagnosed with cancer.  Bill and Kati request our prayers on his behalf.

Jack Coley, a friend of Bill and Kati Williamson has had a reoccurrence of lung cancer and would like our prayers.

Please pray for Blake Whatley, a 5th grader at Lee-Scott who has been diagnosed with Lymes disease and will be  in Kansas City, MO until March to undergo treatment.

Please continue to remember Helen Glasscock, Willis Waller, Wayne Goodman, Joyce Dunn, Susan Kelly and Harold O'Neal as they continue to battle cancer.

Continue to remember:   Kirby Mole, Hilton Hall, Reba Leprettre, Buck Dukes, Ty Garner, Lisa Moss,  and Hilda Davis.

NEEDS

A volunteer is needed to teach the 2 and 3 year old class on Wednesday nights for March, April, and May.  If you are willing to teach, please see Emily Goodman.

Volunteers are needed for a service project that we will be doing on March 6th with the Southside Church of Christ.  We will be doing yard work and repairs for an elderly woman that lives next to the Southside Church.  If you are interested in volunteering please see Daniel Turner or Cecil Langston.  This is a great opportunity for us to show the love of Jesus in a very practical way.

A fund has been set up through the church for the family and friends of Helen Glasscock to donate money toward her medical expenses.  If you would like to contribute, please make a note on your check that it is for Helen Glasscock and give it to one of the elders or drop it by or mail it to the church office.

The food pantry items for this week are Peanut butter, canned chicken, and canned meat.

FAMILY NEWS

Congratulations to Jeremy and Beth Day on the birth of a son, Anderson Day, born February 5th at EAMC.  Anderson weighed 6lbs, 1oz and was 19.5 inches long.  Mom and baby are doing well and are now at home.

The fourth Wednesday night devotionals will be suspended until further notice.

There will be a covered dish lunch next Sunday February 14th after morning worship to recognize our Senior Saints, Bruce and Janice Green and all of our Valentines.  Please remember to cover your dishes with foil, not glass lids, and label the type of food your dish is, for example, meat, vegetable, salad, dessert, etc.
