Wendy Burns' symptoms have not gotten any better.  She returned to the Mayo Clinic on Monday, September 1.  She and John have requested our prayers.

Joyce Dunn had her first chemotherapy treatment on Wednesday, Sept. 3.  You can visit Joyce's website at caringbridge.org.  You will be asked for her website name which is:  joycedunn.

 

 

FAMILY NEWS/UPCOMING EVENTS

Our food pantry needs are peanut butter, canned tomatoes, canned peas, canned soup, canned peaches and canned fruit cocktail.

The Lads and Lasses will meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. to go to Timothy Manor.  All boys and girls are invited to come and join them.

Neighbor's Day which was scheduled for October 10, 2008  has been canceled for this year due to construction of our new building addition.

The Ladies' Bible class will resume on Tuesday, September 9.  The study will be from the book, "Daughters of Eve" by Lottie Beth Hobbs.  The class schedule for September is:
     Sept. 9 - Abigail - Johnnie Hosch
     Sept. 16 - Queen of Sheba - Sue Langston
     Sep. 23 - Jeroboam's wife - Emily Goodman
     Sept. 30 - Jezebel - Johanna Chason
All ladies are encouraged to come and be a part of this study.

Caring Group #2 will have a covered dish luncheon on Sunday, September 14.

The location of our annual Fall Festival has been changed.  It will still be held on Saturday, November 1, but the location has been changed to the home of Eddie Ferrell.  There will be a wiener roast, games, and fun for all ages.  Everyone please bring hot dogs, buns, chips, drinks, and desserts.  Also bring lawn chairs.

If you are willing to host a teen devo or help with any of the 5th quarters, please sign the list on the bulletin board in the foyer.  If you have any questions, see Barry Lamoureux.

Congratulations to Kenan and Ashley Casey on the birth of a son.  Logan James was born Tuesday morning,  September 2, at 3:30 a.m. by C-section.  He weighed 8 lbs. and was 19.5 inches long.  Ashley and the baby are both doing well.

All the ladies of the congregation are invited to a bridal shower for Katie Anderson on Sunday night, September 21, in the fellowship hall.  Katie is registered at Dillards, Wal-Mart, Picket Fence, and Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Faulkner University in Montgomery is hosting the 2008  World Missions Workshop on October 23-25.  The theme for this year's workshop will be "Who Is My Neighbor?".  More information is posted on the bulletin board in the foyer.  

We are so thankful that MSgt. Ken Pinckard, USMC returned safely to the States on Wednesday morning, Sept. 3,  from Iraq.

Firehouse Subs will cater our meal on Wednesday, September 24.  Cost is $5.50 per person.  Please sign the list on the bulletin board if you plan to attend.
